MAQUOKETA, IOWA – Part magician, part comedian, and totally dysfunctional, Nathan Tricky Allen will be bringing his acclaimed “adults only” blend of magic and comedy to the Tiny Pond Theatre (106 S Main St, Maquoketa, IA 52060) on Saturday, April 11th. The show begins at 7:00 PM (with doors opening at 6:30), and will also feature comedian Andy Hartley!
Yes, Nathan Tricky Allen is a magician, but don’t be fooled – you will see NO tuxedo and NO sparkly boxes in this show. Instead, Nathan combines sleight-of-hand magic, stand-up comedy, dangerous tricks, stupid stunts, immature pranks, and hilarious (and unpredictable) audience interaction into one of the very few magic shows in the entire country that is both geared for adults AND funny.
With over 25 years of professional on-stage experience, the best trick up Nathan’s sleeve is his ability to connect with a crowd, and it’s a trick he can pull off whether he is at a comedy club, a biker bar, or a Fortune 500 corporate event – each of which regularly give him standing ovations.
Known for being naughty and tons of fun, without being gross or offensive, Nathan’s personality-driven performances have been described as “One of the funniest magic shows EVER!” (Happenings Magazine; Kenosha, WI), “Star entertainment!” (Inside Magic; Los Angeles, CA), and “A laugh-filled night with a wild and edgy magician!” (Seattle Performs; Seattle).
The International Brotherhood of Magicians presented Nathan with the Justo Hijo Magic Award, based on skill, originality, and entertainment value. He has performed at private parties for heads of state, has appeared on NBC, ABC, The CW, PBS, and TV3 (Europe), and he has been invited to entertain at special corporate events across America for 3M, Budweiser, Ford, Honda, Chevrolet, Wal-Mart, and Facebook, to name just a few.
And yet, in a typical example of his priorities, he insists that he is most proud of being elected Class Clown.
This show will also include a special bonus guest comedian, Andy Hartley! Andy Hartley can be described as funny and cute with embarrassingly small fingers. He is no stranger to the stage. During his high school days, into college, and beyond, he has performed in front of numerous audiences for music and theatre. After winning a college play-writing contest, Andy’s original production made national news in USA Today. Andy Hartley also has been seen on television; playing a role in the sitcom, several TV commercials, and a few small roles in film. After leaving Iowa to pursue his passion for live performance in Los Angeles, Andy quickly became a comic on the rise towards a successful career. Now, he performs all over the country, including clubs, bars, theatres, and corporate events. Hartley has also been seen on LaughsTV on Fox, The World Series of Comedy, Comedy Contest Finalist, Betty White’s “Off Their Rockers” (Lifetime Channel), USAToday (National news), Commercials, Molly’s Girl (Netflix), KCCI Channel 8 News, Waterloo Courier, The Des Moines Register, & continues to add to his resume!
Between Hartley and Allen, the full show will be approximately 90 minutes.
